Abstract
Against the backdrop of a rapid, near-exponential increase in transmitted data volumes and the accelerated implementation of fifth-generation (5G) networks, high-speed deployment of fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) is becoming a priority task in dense urban environments. The study focuses on the comparative analysis and optimization of two modern high-speed installation technologies, microtrenching and pneumatic installation, with an emphasis on minimizing the risks of damage to adjacent underground utilities. Based on current industry reports and academic publications, the techno-economic indicators and operational risks of each technology have been systematized. The analysis shows that the root cause of most incidents is not the installation technology itself but systemic failures at the stages of identification and precise localization of existing networks. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the development of an integrated risk-oriented decision support framework that incorporates pre-installation geophysical survey data (ground-penetrating radar scanning) into a multicriteria model for selecting and adapting the installation technology. The proposed approach ensures a reduction in the probability of damage to adjacent utilities by 85–95%. The results obtained are of practical significance for telecommunications operators, engineering companies, design organizations, and municipal services responsible for the development and operation of urban infrastructure. Keywords
